Threads of Light

Generational - daughters + mothers - Peggy and Sue Pedley

Generational exhibition opens at Madeline Gordon Gallery, Launceston, on 7 November, a date that also marks my mother Peggy’s 100th birthday.

Peggy and I will be showing alongside other mother/daughter pairs including Margie and Katy Stackhouse; Genevieve de Couvreur and Bertie Blackman.

Threads of Light
Peggy is showing abstract stitched woollen tapestries, shaped by her deep love of colour and pattern. I’ll be exhibiting cyanotypes (blueprints) made from plants gathered during the summer months while weeding, pruning and tending Peggy’s beautiful garden.

This is our third collaboration, following Future Feminist Archive: Daughters Mothers (SCA Galleries, University of Sydney, 2015) and Patches of Light (Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, 2019). It’s a celebration of creativity, memory, and connection across generations, and I’d love to share it with you.

The exhibition runs from the 5 - 29 November, 2025.
