Blueprint
Blueprint / Picture Start with Virginia Hillyard
Blueprint is a series of cyanotypes, including some from a previous project that have been worked over with paint, coloured pencils and graphite. This imagery suggests molecular structures, aerial topographies and patterns seen under a microscope. In the remaining cyanotypes, word fragments – snatches of popular Beatles songs and verbal transcriptions of bird calls – appear as shadows cast by an ambiguous figure holding a bucket.
This work was shown in Blueprint/Picture Start, a joint exhibition with Virginia Hilyard, curated by Helen Grace.
